While I fiddled with my gravy hair, Walter left as he entered, always leaving me worse than how he found me.

This was written because Lacey saw some AI slop and said “What if I did something but better?” and let me tell you - it is better. This book is a very quick read, but it is so full of heart and feelings. I relate to Kal on a level I didn’t think would be possible. This carries you through the high highs and the low lows. It doesn’t require much thinking, but that’s fine - it’s not intended to be something monumental and groundbreaking. It’s a light hearted romance with found family. There is no spice in it (only a handful of kisses and only passing references to sex at all) which makes sense and fits in the story. The ending itself felt somewhat rushed, almost like it was running up against a self-contained limit, but it didn’t detract from the story overall.

“Then stay, Kal. This can be your home. I can be your home.”
